2/27: Bush Finishes 4th At Regions
Junior Luke Bush came up just one win shy of earning a trip to the NJSIAA Championships, finishing 4th in the 145-pound weight class at this year's Region 6 Tournament.
Bush lost by fall in his quarterfinal bout against eventual runner-up Jordan Long of Matawan, but then went on to record wins over CJ Pierce of Neptune and Andrew Lee of Ocean to advance to the 3rd place matchup where he was edged by Marlboro's Paul Saraiva, 4-3.
Bush ends the season with a record 37-4. The 37 wins are a new single season school record, and he'll enter the 2011 campaign with 90 career wins.

2/23: Trio Fall At Region Opening Round
Sophomore Derek Arnette and seniors Garrett Sperling and Tyler Kimble were defeated at Tuesday night's opening round of the Region 6 Tournament. For Sperling and Kimble, it brought an end to their successful careers for the Blue Devils.
Sperling ends his career as the all-time leader in wins for Shore Regional with 106 victories and a pair of District medals. Kimble ends his career with 81 career victories which puts him 3rd on the all-time wins list at Shore.
Luke Bush will be the lone Blue Devil in action on Friday night as the Region 6 Tournament continues with the quarterfinal rounds. Bush, a junior, is seeded 6th and schedule to take on Matawan's Jordan Long.

2/20: Bush Wins District Title; Four Advance To Regions
Luke Bush became Shore Regional's first District champion since 2002, and the Blue Devils tied a school record with four medal winners, as Shore finished in 6th place as a team at this year's District 23 Tournament.
Bush, who has now tied the school record for single season wins, receives a bye into the Region 6 quarterfinal round on Friday night. 3rd place finishers Derek Arnette, Garrett Sperling, and Tyler Kimble will be in action on Tuesday night in the opening round of the Region 6 Tournament at the Ritacco Center in Toms River.

The Blue Devils return ten lettermen, including senior Garret Sperling (32-4 / 2nd place D-23), and will be looking to improve on last year's eight win campaign and compete for the B-Central title.
The strength of the lineup will lie in the stretch between 119 through 140 where Sperling anchors a group that features talented junior Luke Bush (27-7), senior Tyler Kimble (19-15) and Connor and Derek Arnette.
The numbers are a bit thin up top, so juniors Kevin Chapman and Mike MacStudy will be relied on heavily to carry the load while the newcomers try and make their mark.

Wrestler To Watch: (Sr) Garret Sperling
Sperling (84 career wins) figured to be in the mix for a trip to Atlantic City in 2009 before an injury suffered at Region practice derailed his bid. He's fully recovered now and will take aim at earning the first District title for the Blue Devils since 2002 and earning a trip to Boardwalk Hall.
DESPO's Outlook
The good news for Shore is that with 31 wrestlers in the room, the numbers are strong. The bad news is most of those bodies are around the 125-140 mark where they are strong to begin with. Still, they will be very solid in the middle and the schedule is favorable as they will have about a month to break in the newcomers before their big divisional matchup with Pt. Beach who will be fielding a very similar lineup. A tough non-conference slate that includes Long Branch, Pt. Boro, Middletown South, Matawan, Wall, and TR North will only benefit this team come post-season where they have a good shot at pushing several guys through to Regions, especially with Long Branch moving out of their District.
